Mairi Barton joins Airservices executive team

Airservices is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Mairi Barton as Executive General Manager, Corporate and Industry Affairs.

Ms Barton has more than 20 years of communications and public affairs experience which spans state and federal government as well as the agricultural and financial services sectors.

Most recently a strategic media relations adviser to the Victorian Government education portfolios, Ms Barton previously held several leadership roles in communication and corporate affairs with banking group, ANZ.

Commencing her career as a journalist with the West Australian, Ms Barton has also worked as head of media and public affairs for the National Farmers’ Federation and an Australian Government Minister.

Airservices Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Staib, welcomed Ms Barton to the organisation, saying she brought a strong mix of leadership and broad corporate affairs experience to the role.

“I’m pleased to welcome Mairi to Airservices, with her considerable experience in communications and public affairs and look forward to her contributing to our vision to connect the Australian aviation industry,” Ms Staib said.

“Her appointment brings the number of women in my Executive team to three, reinforcing Airservices commitment to diversity in our workforce.”

Ms Barton’s role at Airservices has a strong stakeholder engagement focus, including enhancing relationships with airlines, airports, government and international air navigation service providers in addition to media relations and staff communications.
