Loss of separation—near Katherine, Northern Territory

24 Apr 2014

Airservices Australia has notified the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) of a loss of separation incident involving an Airbus A320 and an Airbus A330 aircraft.

The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning near Katherine, Northern Territory.

The incident was resolved safely. Airservices will be assisting the ATSB throughout the investigation as well as conducting a full internal investigation.

Airservices first priority will always be the safety of the travelling public and the national airways system.

Airservices continues to work closely with the ATSB, the airlines, and with major airports to maintain and improve safety, but it is something we can never be complacent about.

As the matter is now under investigation by the ATSB it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.
