27 Feb 2015

Australia’s air navigation service provider, Airservices Australia is showcasing the diverse range of professions on offer at the organisation at the Australian International Airshow, Avalon Airport.

From the rewarding world of air traffic control to the physical demands of aviation rescue fire fighting, Airservices encourages anyone looking for a fulfilling aviation career to visit our exhibition stand and talk with staff about how to get involved.

Airservices Executive General Manager People and Culture, Andrew Boyd said Airservices offered a range of career paths for those interested in aviation.

“Airservices is Australia’s largest employer of air traffic controllers and aviation rescue fire fighters, but our organisation also has many technical and corporate career paths on offer,” Mr Boyd said.

“We are also committed to increasing diversity in our workplace, to encourage greater creativity of thought and varied perspectives which improve an organisation’s decision-making processes.”

Located in Hall 1, Airservices Learning Academy staff will be on hand to give a behind-the-scenes look at how air traffic control is managed, demonstrating a high-fidelity tower visual simulator that our trainee controllers use during their training.

Outside the exhibition halls, visitors will also be able to get close to an ultra-large Mk8 Panther fire truck on display near the Flyer’s Market.

Those keen for a career challenge, where they can stay fit and save lives, will be able to check out our highly-trained aviation rescue fire fighters demonstrating the physical and technical skills needed for this exciting role throughout the day on Saturday 28 February.

One of Airservices air traffic controllers also presented at the airshow’s student career forum on the morning of Friday 27 February.

From electrical engineers and technicians to IT support teams, flight path designers and noise data analysts to legal counsel, Airservices just may have the first step in your budding career within Australia’s aviation industry.
