Airservices aviation rescue fire fighters from Darwin displayed one of the station’s Mk8 Panther ultra-large fire vehicles at the Royal Darwin Show, held between 24–27 July, to promote the vital role of the service on and off the airport.
Over the four-day event crews manned the Mk8 and fielded many questions from people of all ages there to find out more about aviation fire fighting while taking a closer look at one of the largest fire vehicles in the country.
The crews handed out some promotional material and a detailed fact sheet on the fire vehicles and also promoted career opportunities.
Community engagement at significant events is a great way to let the general public know who Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) are and what they do. Last financial year, ARFF attended and participated in more than 170 community events nationally.
