Airservices ‘Santa tracking’ activities have been selected as a finalist for the Social Media Innovation for Government and Public Sector Award 2014.
The awards will recognise innovative social media campaigns to improve service, or information delivery, to the public by government and public sector organisations.
Our ‘Airservices tracks Santa’ campaign provides an invaluable opportunity for the organisation to connect and interact with sections of the Australian travelling public outside our usual aviation-centric audience using Facebook, Twitter andYouTube.
We used the 2013 campaign platform to educate the public about air traffic control, aviation fire fighters, the National Operations Centre and technicians in maintaining a safe air traffic system in Australia. The 2013 campaign also sought to encourage people to consider a career in aviation by raising awareness of the variety of careers available within the organisation
It also highlighted the importance of flight planning and how Airservices keeps the skies safe for Santa and all air travellers.
The majority of content was developed, created and implemented in-house by the Corporate Communication team and was further refined and developed incorporating feedback from previous years.
The awards, assessed by a Government Technology Review panel, will be announced at the 3rd Annual Social Media for the Public Sector Conference in Melbourne in late May.
