Airservices Australia has been recognised for achievement and innovation in training, being announced ‘Employer of the Year’ Finalist at the Victorian Training Awards in Melbourne on Friday 28 August.
Airservices employs more than 4500 people in specialised fields including air traffic control, aviation rescue fire fighting, engineering, education and training, information technology, human resource management, legal services, security, safety, environment, finance and administration.
The nomination recognises Airservices unique curriculum, delivered at its Victorian facilities, as world-class, demonstrating Airservices leadership in vocational education and training excellence.
Airservices General Manager Learning Academy, Linda Spurr said that the organisation was delighted to have been successful for the second year running, after being a finalists last year.
“I am very proud to be part of an organisation that values training so highly. Being highly commended highlights the commitment to training by Airservices to ensure operations are delivered safely and efficiently.
“I would also like to commend all of our staff, including the more than 250 staff in our Learning Academy who have worked hard to improve the quality of training and ensure that Airservices staff are well trained and fully equipped,” Ms Spurr said.
This year’s submission outlined many of the training initiatives that Airservices has implemented including the Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Hot Fire Training Ground, Air Traffic Control Enroute and Control Tower Simulators, Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Operational Training Programs and the Engineering and Technical Training.
The awards are hosted by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
