Aviation rescue fire fighters conduct training exercise at Townsville

18 Nov 2013

Airservices Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) service at Townsville Airport will be staging a number of emergency training exercises between 8.00am and 11.30pm on Tuesday 19 November and Wednesday 20 November.

‘Exercise One Team’ will also include the participation of the Royal Australian Air Force, Queensland Fire Rescue Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and the Queensland Police Service.

The exercises will be used to practise a response to a major aviation incident at the airport.

There will be a number of pyrotechnics, including large explosions, used during the exercises to simulate an aircraft accident.

Airline passengers and nearby residents and workers should not be alarmed by the pyrotechnics, the presence of black smoke or increase in the number of emergency service vehicles on and around the airport.
