Airservices addressed the Australian helicopter industry about the future of air navigation surveillance, including the introduction of Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) technology, at the Rotortech 2014 industry conference and exposition held between 24-25 May on the Sunshine Coast.
A presentation by Airservices Airline Relations Manager, Kerry Bayley, urged aircraft operators, including helicopter operators, to allow enough time to be fitted with new satellite-based technologies ahead of CASA’s 4 February 2016 mandate.
The 4 February 2016 mandate will require all aircraft flying under instrument flight rules (IFR), and who intend to operate within 500 nautical miles north and east of Perth, to be fitted with Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) equipment.
More information on fitment mandates is available on our website.
