Airservices attends Canberra Airport Open Day

Canberra International Airport held their open day on Sunday 6 April.

Airservices Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) had their spare Mk8 ultra-large fire vehicle on static display, providing a great opportunity to further educate the community of the vital role ARFF plays on and off the airport.

The open day also included a handling display by a solo RAAF PC-9A, a formation aerobatic display by theSouthern Knights team in their AT-6C Harvards and a high energy performance by Red Bull-sponsored pilot Joel Haski in his Extra 330XL.

Qantas, QantasLink and Virgin Australia each had an aircraft on display with the Wollongong Airport-based Historical Aircraft Restoration Society bringing a number of their aircraft including an ex-RAAF Caribou, Catalina flying boat, DC-3 (C-47) and the ex-Qantas Super Constellation—Connie.
